If you are working atop a single plywood layer we recommend adding a second layer of 1 4 to 1 2 inch plywood or commercial floor substrate material. Reinstall all base and or quarter round moldings. Before we get started with how to install hardwood floors let s cover a few basics. There are 3 methods used to install wood floors.

Nail down glue down floating. This insures the chalk line is not covered and can be seen easily. Then wipe the surface clean to remove loose dirt or soil. Install any transition pieces that may be required such as reducers t moldings and stair nosing.
